We love our city
And we are bringing the urban living vibe to you.
Our vision is to transform an existing cultural heritage building into a place of modern urban living units, conveniently located close to the heart of Johannesburg, where people can live, work and play.
Of key importance to us is the creation of an urban haven within the framework of a city structure whilst embodying the spatial development plan for Johannesburg 2040.
We support the need for urban dwellers to live close to their places of work without compromising on lifestyle, and to this end endeavor to offer the comfort and perks of suburban life within a vibrant, urban cityscape.
At the helm of this creative rejuvenation project are a team of property developers known as Enate Properties – made up of Kim Talmage, Dave Nijland and Carlos Afonso.
They recognised the hidden gem in the old Telkom Exchange building and initiated the project of urban renewal in the Braamfontein peri-urban area.
David Nijland is a chartered accountant with experience in business, property and financial arenas.
Carlos Afonso heads up the construction side bringing over 25 years of experience in the construction industry to the mix, overseeing all building and engineering endeavours.
Kim Talmage has been significant in the conception and development of The Refinery residential lofts at 44 Stanley and has many years of business experience in property development, as well as the health industry.
Melanie Nijland has been involved with the concept design of the website, logo and identity of the Exchange, as well as advising on fixtures and finishes in the individual loft design.
Tony Afonso is the Project Manager, and has managed the renovation from start to finish drawing on his years of experience in the building industry.
Rob Rich and Shawn Labuschagne of Rich Labs are the creative brilliance behind the architectural conversion of the existing space, breathing life into the old industrial frames and transforming them into urban living spaces. Rich Labs prides itself in innovative design and sustainability, incorporating both into The Exchange project. In the past, the company has designed living spaces for The Refinery in Braamfontein Werf and Frost Street Lofts, amongst others.
